Healthy Homemade Hummus

Many of you may not know, but it’s #InternationalHummusDay on Sunday and we think that’s pretty great (as an excuse to eat loads of it). In honour of the day, we’ve put together a super easy recipe so you can make your own hummus at home that’s a little healthier than the stuff you buy at the supermarket, with loads of good, fresh ingredients.

Chickpeas are the base of this almighty dip, and we’ve got to say their credentials are impressive. Not only are they high in protein and fibre, they’re packed with over 10 different micronutrients.

⚠️ Top tip – make sure you get your hands on some great quality chickpeas for this so your hummus is packed full of flavour. ⚠️

 

All you need is…

  • 1 jar of chickpeas

  • 2 tablespoons of natural yoghurt

  • 1 teaspoon of tahini

  • ½ a clove of garlic

  • ½ a lemon

  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper

  • Your choice of sauce to drizzle on top

 

It’s SO easy that all you need to do is whack the above in a blender and blitz until smooth, then you’re ready to get dunking. Don’t be afraid to mix it up either, we love drizzling sauce on top to add some extra flavour, and to save you the trouble of experimenting, we’ve tried different hummus with some of our sauces to give you our top recommendations – you’re welcome 😎
